American Strategic Investment Co. Faces NYSE Compliance Challenge
American Strategic Investment Co. (NYSE: NYC) is now on the clock. The New York Stock Exchange has issued a notice stating that the company no longer meets its continued listing standards. Specifically, the NYSE flagged shortfalls in two areas: market capitalization and stockholders’ equity. As of August 25, the company’s 30-day average market cap was about $34.3 million, with equity coming in at $35.5 million—well under the $50 million thresholds required on both counts.
Under the exchange’s procedures, the company has 45 days from the notice to deliver a business plan that outlines a path back into compliance within the next 18 months. Once submitted, the plan goes to the NYSE Listing Operations Committee for review. If approved, the company enters a monitoring phase, with performance reviewed each quarter. If the plan doesn’t get the green light, the NYSE can move forward with suspension and delisting.
For now, trading continues. The company’s Class A common stock remains listed on the NYSE throughout the cure period, assuming it meets all other listing criteria. The notice doesn’t impact ASIC’s business operations or its SEC reporting requirements.

What’s Behind the Numbers
American Strategic Investment Co. owns a portfolio of commercial real estate spread across New York City’s five boroughs. The firm is also managing through a set of broader market pressures—rising rates, persistent inflation, and geopolitical uncertainty among them. It recently chose to terminate its REIT status, part of a shift aimed at opening up new options for acquisitions and future growth.
What happens next depends on the plan. ASIC has limited time to present a viable roadmap, and the NYSE’s response will set the tone for the next phase. In the meantime, the company stays public and stays operational, with investors watching closely.
