Agarwal returns as Co-President, Bartley named COO as Kim departs for new role.

March 10, 2025

Blackstone Real Estate Income Trust, Inc. (BREIT) has announced key leadership updates, positioning the company for its next phase of growth. A.J. Agarwal has been appointed Co-President, rejoining BREIT’s leadership team after a sabbatical. He will share responsibilities with Robert Harper, who has held the role since Agarwal’s departure.

Agarwal Returns to Leadership

Agarwal is no stranger to BREIT. He previously served as President and a board member, playing a central role in the company’s investment strategy. Since returning to Blackstone, he has focused on reconnecting with investors and distribution partners. His leadership experience within Blackstone’s Core+ real estate business and his track record overseeing billions in real estate investments reinforce his role as Co-President.

Bartley Named Chief Operating Officer

In another key move, Glen Bartley has stepped into the role of Chief Operating Officer. Before this appointment, Bartley worked within Blackstone’s real estate investment group, concentrating on portfolio performance. His prior experience at Goldman Sachs, where he spent a decade working across acquisitions, asset management, and debt strategies, brings additional operational depth to BREIT’s leadership team.

Kim Departs for a New Role

At the same time, Brian Kim has stepped down from his role as Head of Acquisitions and Capital Markets and exited the board. He is taking on a leadership position within Blackstone’s Real Estate Debt Strategies business. Kim’s transition reflects a broader shift as Blackstone realigns leadership across its real estate platforms.

Strategic Leadership Focus

These changes reinforce Blackstone’s focus on experienced leadership and market engagement. With Agarwal and Bartley stepping into new roles, BREIT continues to prioritize:

  • Strengthening investor relationships

  • Enhancing operational efficiency

  • Advancing long-term real estate strategy

As the real estate market continues to evolve, BREIT’s leadership team remains focused on positioning the company for sustained growth and stability.
